Best outdoor basketball court designs. Interesting and colorful street basketball court ideas. The most creative outdoor basketball courts from around the world…

The first things that come to mind when it comes to basketball are the legends and the most important basketball teams that made us love that game. Especially if you are 80’s generation like me; it is very easy to list the names of famous basketball players like Michael Jordan,  Scottie Pippen , Kobe Bryant , Shaquille O’neal , Peter Naumoski , Ufuk Sarıca, İbrahim Kutluay and many more.

While it was a luxury for us at that time to find a basketball, it was unimaginable to have a basketball court that can be played and especially a basketball backboard with net.  Well, where do you think so many famous basketball players started playing basketball? Of course, many of them are at the closest street basketball courts to their home. Here, in this article, we have compiled for you the best outdoor basketball court designs in the world…

1. Pigalle Duperré Basketball Court, Paris, France

Although everybody describes Paris as the city of lovers and writes poems and songs on it, Paris is here with a completely different topic today. Yes, when you first look at the pictures above, it is natural to be surprised. Because you see a unique street basketball court in the world. This catchy field emerges when basketball and art are combined. Located between the two apartments opposite the Pigalle Basketball store in the 9th district of Paris, the Paris Duperré basketball court makes you feel staying there for hours.

The basketball court, which is near the Moulin Rouge and Montmartre, first hosted the works of street artists in 2009 and 2012. The project was developed in 2014 by the French fashion brand Pigalle and the design studio iII-Studio, sponsored by Nike, to raise awareness in the region and to popularize basketball. Pigalle and iII-Studio, which created the next level with its yellow and blue color-dominated field, completely renewed the basketball court design in 2017 with a different perspective.

Above, you can see both of the Paris Duperré basketball court designs in 2014 and 2017. What do you think, isn’t it great? 🙂

2. Sara D. Roosevelt Basketball Court, New York, USA

We are here with an outdoor basketball court design from America, which is the first country that comes to mind when it is about street basketball. The project initiated by New York local governments to attract attention to Sara D. Roosevelt Park and to encourage more people to do sports. It was made in 2016 in the Lower East region of New York which is famous with its art work. The basketball court project was realized with the sponsorship of the famous sports brand Nike, as in Paris.

As can be seen from the pictures, Brian Donnelly, an innovative designer of Brooklyn origin, interpreted the banality of the basketball court with a completely different riot of colors. Two street basketball courts located side by side in Sara D. Roosevelt Park are at the service of all basketball fans 24/7. However, when you dribble the basketball or want to pass, the risk of getting lost in the colors is quite high. Let’s just say, if you visit that area one day in New York, take at least a shot or two in there. 🙂

3. Munich, Germany

This time you will see the most interesting basketball court design in the world. Inges Idee ( Hans Hemmert, Axel Lieber, Thomas A. Schmidt and Georg Zey, founded by four German designers who set off with the philosophy of art in the public sphere , realized this project called “3D2” in the garden of a vocational school in Munich in 2006.

Although it looks like a basketball court in the image, it seems very difficult to dribble here. Our recommendation is to use the 3D basketball court for experiencing an extraordinary basketball court, relax or sunbathe rather than play in there. 🙂

4. Pahang, Malaysia

Now we share with you a basketball court design from Malaysia, the cute country of Southeast Asia, famous for its magnificent nature and rainforests. When we say street basketball, we may not mean exactly that; however, we do not think that you would say no to play basketball in the nature, surrounded by mountains, in a marvelous view and under plenty of oxygen. 🙂

Here is a wonderful basketball court where you can experience the unique natural beauty and play basketball. Don’t say that it is too far, be there and try. Your shots percentage will be very high in this area where you can have lots of oxygen!

5. Florida, USA

Speaking of open air, mountains, trees, nature; it would not be possible not to mention about seaside courts. Imagine; perfect sea and beach, a gentle sun that does not burn and a cool wind. If you want to play basketball in this environment, we have a suggestion for an excellent outdoor basketball court: This court located on Florida’s Fort Lauderdale beach is just for you.

Let’s not make you wait any longer by extending the article. Come on, grab your basketball and go to one of the closest and best basketball courts. Good luck, take your best shots! 😉
